In this re-release of one of our earliest conversations, Greg and Ed sit down on the podcast’s first anniversary to explain why this show is called Considering Catholicism—and not something more generic. Drawing on C.S. Lewis’s own hallway analogy in Mere Christianity, they make the case that the “mere” version of the faith can get you through the front door, but it cannot answer the real questions that come next: what the Church is, how we are saved, what the sacraments are for, how we live, and what happens when life falls apart. In a Christian world that has largely lost any shared answers to those questions, hovering in the foyer is no longer enough. This episode remains the clearest statement of why the podcast exists and what it is trying to do—serving as a natural frame for the questions we will be taking up in the episodes ahead.
